Do not tthink You are Igbo “emperor” APGA Writes Nnamdi Kanu,

Image
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has decried Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s call on Anambra people to shun forthcoming gubernatorial poll in the state. The party, in a letter to Mr. Kanu, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ifeatu Obiokoye, and made available to the media in Awka on Monday, said the call was irresponsible and devoid of intellectual focus. It said that Kanu had no authority to speak for the Igbos of the South-East, although APGA acknowledged him as the leader of IPOB. It explained that Biafra’s concept was a metaphor for the demand for equity and fair play in the Nigeria state and not a separatist movement. “Nnamdi Kanu’s call for a boycott of elections in the South-East, beginning with the governorship polls scheduled for November 18, 2017 in Anambra is irresponsible, irredentist and totally devoid of any focus. “You must appreciate that for different logical reasons and perception, the Biafra c

“You lied, Governor Obaseki.” Nigeria Immigration Service Says "It’s Fulani Herdsmen, not foreigners, that are raping and killing farmers  The governor and chief security officer of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has debunked the claim by Ewu, Irrua and Ekpoma people that Fulani Herdsmen raped and killed their women farmers in the bush. This is despite abundant evidence, including his visit to Ewu after the gruesome rape and murder of two Ewu farmers in their farms and his deputy’s visit to Ekpoma during the week after the repeated murder of farmers in the bush by Fulani Herdsmen. In both cases, the residents of both cities went on rampage demonstrating their anger towards the menace of the marauding Fulani Herdsmen. In a rather shocking statement by the Edo governor, Obaseki absolved the Fulani Herdsmen of any wrong doing, infering that the residents of those named places, and indeed elsewhere in Edo State where the same menace occur, are being mischiev

Update On The Imo Robbery

Image
Update On The Imo Robbery Recently, there was a video clip that went viral on the Internet, showing a robbery attack at a branch of Zenith Bank on Wetheral Road, Owerri, Imo State. A policeman, Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko, was captured in the video, in a shootout with the robbers. Iboko, who had only been deployed to the bank three days before the attack, died the following day from injuries he sustained in the attack. Another policeman also lost his life, while another sustained a life-threatening injury to his eye. It is sad that in spite of the bravery displayed by Iboko, the Nigeria Police Force left the deceased’s family to their fate and did not bother to make  provision for the family Iboko left behind. Even the police officer who lost his eye in the robbery was not well taken care of. It is sad that the Nigeria Police Force does not care for its men. When they die in the line of duty, their entitlements are not paid until years after. Some families don’t ev

Brouhaha About Removal Of Christian Religious Studies From Secondary School Curriculum

Image
Discussions about the “removal” of Christian Religious Studies (CRS) from Nigeria’s secondary school curriculum have been ongoing since June 14 when a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) paid a courtesy call on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House. Nigerian secondary school students ICIR Nigeria During the visit, Samson Ayokunle, the CAN president, pointed out that whereas the new curriculum stipulates that CRS – also referred to as Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) – will no longer exist as a subject on its own, Islamic/Arabic Studies and French have been introduced. Ayokunle told Osinbajo that the curriculum had earlier been dropped by the ministry of education after CAN raised objections. He however expressed surprise that the same curriculum had resurfaced. “This curriculum is the brain-child of Nigerian Educational Research Council, an agency of the Federal Ministry of Education. To us in CAN, its introduction is an ill-wind that

PDP’s Ize-Iyamu celebrates birthday today The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is today, June 21 2017 celebrating his 55th birthday anniversary. The entire social media as well as streets of Edo State are agog with activities and felicitation for his birthday, akin to a public holiday. In the days leading to his birthday, as has become his tradition for many years, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu offered free medical treatments to over 250 residents of Edo State through the Salvation Army in Benin City. The interesting part of the day is that the PDP Candidate shares the same birthday with his wife, Dr. Idia Ize-Iyamu, a Consultant Otondologist at UBTH and professor of Dentistry at the University of Benin. Also intriguing is the fact that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu also shares the same birthday with his Deputy in the September 28 Edo State Gubernatorial Election, Hon John Yakubu. A bash is expected to hold at his residence
