Women attacked by Philip Shuaibu in Jattu Codemn APC and Tell of their experience

Several of the women who were attacked at Jattu by Phillip Shuaibu’s thugs have started to recount their experiences in the hands of the thugs who attacked them under the direct supervision of the deputy gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Phillip Shuaibu.

The convoy of Dr Idia Ize-Iyamu, wife of the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was attacked by thugs and outlaws who became furious when market women jubilantly received Dr Idia Ize-Iyamu and her entourage bringing out all their brooms and burning them in the market square.

Several of the victims regretted that the intolerance of the APC has reached an unbearable extent and vowed to end all the oppression by their votes on September 28th when they vowed to “end this oppression by sons of former slave labourers”.

Mrs Adedoye Oluwole Awolowo is from Ikenne, of the family of the legend of the South-West, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. She was among the women who were attacked by Philip Shuaibu’s thugs when they scampered for safety running into their vehicle.

“I saw Phillip Shuaibu himself wearing a brown khaki and ordering the boys. They attacked us. We ran for safety in our bus but some of the thugs manhandled me. The thugs were shouting ‘pursue them, this is APC territory!” when they attacked us. We do not understand why this has to happen. We are crying out for the people to hear us” Mrs Awolowo said, bitterly.

Mrs Christiana Moses Ikhidero also recounted her ordeal in the hands of the APC thugs led by Phillip Shuaibu.

“We were at Jattu market to campaign to the traders there as we have been doing across markets in Edo state. We were received by the women there at the PDP women rally. The women were happy with us. We were moving from one place to the other. They were chanting “PDP, Change the Change!” and later on the women brought out many brooms in the market and set them ablaze.

“To our greatest surprise, thugs started to arrive the market square. This was apparently reported to Phillip Shuaibu who is from the area. Within minutes, thugs swamped the place.

Youths and civil society groups have been reacting to the assault on Edo women by the APC and have expressed concern over the negative effect this could have on the fragile peace in the state.

“First they attacked our women. Mrs Obaseki said our women were prostitutes. Now they have attacked harmless women who were campaigning peacefully at the market. By the way, what are APC men doing at the Jattu market? APC have no regard for women. The law should take its course. Shuaibu has taken a loan that he will surely pay back soon”. Faith Okoro, a social media commentator, said.
