Buhari’s relation, Nahilu Gwandu,third Police Commissioner to be deployed to Edo State in three weeks – Residents and civil society react


Nahilu Abubakar Gwandu  is now the new Commissioner of Police for Edo State police command.

He is to replace CoP Fimihan Adeoye who spent less than two weeks as commissioner and was removed allegedly because he refused to succumbed to the APC pressures to use the police to rig the Edo 2016 election and harrass opposition agents and leaders.

CoP Gwandu is a blood relation of Major Jokolo, Buhari’s former ADC when he was a military Head of State. Major Jokolo is the military officer of the famous 53 suitcases of Hard foreign currency that passed through the Airport, unchallenged. He is now the Emir of Gwandu and still maintains very cordial relationship with President Buhari, according to checks conducted by Urhokpota Reporters.

Emir Jokolo Gwandu’s brother, Nahilu Gwandu, has just been named the new commissioner of police for Edo state!

Civil society leaders working in the state have expressed concern over the development and have decided to watch with keen interest how the deployment of Buhari’s relation could influence the credibility of the election.

State coordinator of Centre for Patriotic Leadership Initiative, Joy Ebare, expressed concern over the choice of the new commissioner of police.

“The Police force must account for why they have to change three commissioners three times within three weeks. We have lost confidence in the police. But we are watching keenly because democracy in Nigeria is on trial. If they rigged this election, we would make this country ungovernable.” Ms Ebare said.

“Let us give the Police the benefit of the doubt for now and hope that  new police boss is not a hatchet man. But if he turned around to be one, we would not hesitate to give him the deserved heat because this election cannot be rigged even if the IG were to be deployed as Commissioner of Police in Edo next week” Dr. Thompson Omorodion of the Redemption Group said.

    Haba APC, Why the desperation now. The action of the police command is an indication to rigg Edo election in favour of their choice candidate. If this is allow to happy in EDO state, it means democracy is still far from been on course.
