Kanu Back Pedals On Anambra Elections . Says It Will Hold
The cloud of uncertainty that has trailed preparation for the conduct of Anambra gubernatorial poll in November, following calls for boycott by the Indigenous People of Biafra ((IPOB), has been erased.
This followed withdrawal of the threat to stop the conduct of the November 18 governorship election by the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
The decision was reportedly reached after a meeting between the Ala-Igbo International Foundation and the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Speaking on Friday, leader of the foundation, Uzodinma Nwala, said, “After much deliberation, IPOB has assured us that it won’t disrupt the November 18 governorship election.
“We have jointly told people who are eligible to vote to go out and exercise their franchise without fear of molestation.”
It is not clear if Kanu’s shift in position also marks a beginning of change in tactics towards his agitation for a separate state of Biafra.
