 24-hour curfew in Kaduna over 2 LGAs, FG considers a state of emergency


The Kaduna State Security Council has declared a 24 hour curfew over two local government area councils in Kaduna State, Jema’a and Kaura Local Government Areas, with immediate effect.

According to the imposition statement, the action became necessary to protect life and property and avoid the further breakdown of law and order in the two Local Government Areas.

All security agencies on a Special Operation in the two Local Government Areas have been directed to ensure strict compliance.

Only essential workers and those on humanitarian services are allowed movement after due clearance by security agenciess.

Kaduna State has been embroiled in ethno-religious conflict of frightening proportion since the administration of Governor El-Rufai, a Fulani, who had vowed to “repay” anyone who killed a Fulani during the days when the military under President Jonathan was clamping down on Boko Haram insurgents, some of who are Fulani.

In the wake of the recent crisis, El-Rufai admitted that he bribed the Fulani killers with money to stop the killings. He added that he knew them and he has appealed to them to relax because a Muslim and Fulani like them is “now in power”.

The comments by the Governor of Kaduna state was greeted with condemnation by many Nigerians as it was perceived that he actually paid the Fulani killers to enable them buy more weapons to wreck more havoc in Christian dominated Southern Kaduna in furtherance of what many described as ” ethno-religious cleansing”.

The massacres of mostly Christians of Southern Kaduna has continued unabated with several hundreds killed but no one prosecuted of convicted.

With the new development of curfew over parts of Kaduna, the future of the government in Kaduna State is bleak as a state of emergency may be declared over the whole state by the Federal Government if the violence spreads uncontrollably or the state government made a request for emergency rule.

It seems the Dele Giwa murder is one of those historical events that will forever live in the legend of conspiracy theory. Gloria Okon, or Chinyere as she been claimed to be, is a different case. Ms Betty Okoebor Defies Oshiomhole, begs Onojie of Uromi - Says It is a sacrilege for me to demand or receive apology from my King

A mild drama has started in Edo State as Ms Betty Okoebor, the woman in the middle of the crisis between Onojie of Uromi and outgoing Edo State governor,  Adams Oshiomhole, has said that she did not request for any apology and does not seek any apology from the Onojie of Uromi. In a personally signed letter to the Edo State governor, a copy of which was made available to Urhokpota Reporters, Ms Okoebor said she has since reconciled with the Onojie and she does not require the governor to humiliate the Onojie of Uromi on her behalf. “Your Excellency” the letter of Okoebor reads, “note that as a loyal daughter of the Throne of the Onojie of Uromi, it will be sacrilegious for me to demand or receive apology from His Majesty, under any circumstances.
