Election Postponement Favors PDP, Party Waxes Stronger, Threatens to Take Over Edo North

With the postponement of governorship election in Edo state from the 18th of September to the 28th
of September the PDP advantage over the APC appears to have surged in the state.
The PDP appears to have utilized the hiatus to fortify its
bases and to expand it’s strangle-hold over the APCs ambition to produce the
next governor of Edo state. In Owan west local
government, Egor, Akoko-Edo, Uhunmwode and environs floods of decampees from
the APC has encouraged the PDP to seek further advantage by deeply encroaching
into Edo north, an otherwise APC strong hold.
A base of 91% sure APC votes is now less than 57% by the last poll, With Owan
west, east and Akoko-Edo falling under the PDP spell.
Seeking to know the magic performed a core PDP chieftain
from Edo north, Hon. Daniel Asekhame had this
to tell us in Warake, Edo north where we caught up with him. “The election postponement has
favored the PDP who took the opportunity of the extension to intensify its
efforts to bring in more voters to its fold. The PDP has completely captured
Owan west and environs and is the leading party in Akoko-Edo. We have even made
serious inroads into the Etsako area of Edo
north dwindling the only Hope the APC has of garnering any reasonable votes at
all. We are all aware that Edo central is now 98% PDP from 93% and Edo south which was slated as the battle ground for the
governorship elections is still simmering from the abuses of the APC government
so almost no contest there”
Asekhame went on to admonish the waiting crowd and advised
the people not to give out any information on their voters card. He went on to
allege that the APC had brought in voters card cloning machines and would cost
who ever gave out details of their voters cards their civic rights as their
cards will be cloned. The PDP committee chairman went on to say that no matter
the fiscal inducement by any party no PDP strongman from Owan west will decamp
to any party.
It is about time
