APC, a Government that Breaks Its Own Laws - Hon Asekhame
Without consideration to the law makers the APC led Edo state government has continuously broken all its laws
and regulations in desperation to install Godwin Obaseki into power.
Do imagine the flood of posters littering Edo state,
especially the capital Benin city
like graffiti. Posters worth over N 300,000,000.00
(Three Hundred Million Naira) tax payers money. Even the roads and walls of all
public buildings have been defaced by these campaign posters. The most blatant
of these is at the Edo state Museum at the Kings Square (Ring Road), There you
have an original warning sign placed on the wall surrounding the museum in the
center of the square by the government banning any sort of posters or bills on
the walls, for fear or reducing the aesthetic pleasantry of the square. All
around this warning notice are banners placed there by same government covering
the whole walls surrounding the square campaigning for the APC.
The irony
Remember same government banned the opposition from placing
any campaign banners or posters on government electric poles and on public
walls. Same government banned the opposition from holding rallies in the government
owned stadium or schools or public arenas. Same government holds rallies in primary
school fields and the government owned stadium and public grounds for the APC.
Otaru of Auchi
Reject god fatherism was one of the key points of the Edo state APC governor’s campaign and diatribe for the
past 8 years. Yet the Otaru of Auchi seems to think otherwise. On a visit to
him by the APC the first class ruler and Islamic scholar queried the APC for
not respecting the principles of justice and fair play in choosing their deputy
gubernatorial candidate from Etsako where the outgoing governor is from, noting
that even in Etsako, the governor should have considered another clan outside
Oshiomhole’s village to promote harmony and trust. The monarch was reported to
have told Philip Shuaibu that there is news in town that he is campaigning with
the gully erosion but that he will be responded to at the appropriate time. He
went further to say the APC request for his endorsement and prayers to win the
gubernatorial election was “mission impossible” because the candidates are not
the right people. As the rumor goes, the dignified ruler went on to reject the
cartons of money presented by the APC and advised the governor to use the money
to pay at least some of the Etsako local government workers and retirees that
have received no salary for months.
The APC led government in Edo lambasted the former finance
minister under GEJ calling her the epitome of corruption yet in the past forth
night rumors have it that the government delegation sent to the popular Santana
market on Sapele road in Benin to deliver bales and bales of Naira to sway the
market women to the side of the APC was roundly rejected by the market as a
body. The market women bemoaned the continuous taxation without dividend and
the continuous harassment and destruction of their meager wares by the agents
of the APC government and cried for a change of the APC in the state to the
chagrin of the government delegation.
A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE
