The Portrait: A MUST READ

The Painting

A painter did portraits before he went to war. In the war a fellow soldier saved his life and died in the process. After the war the painter did a portrait of his hero and took it to the fallen soldiers father in his palatial ancestral home. When the patriarch of this massive palatial home eventually died the mansion and everything in it went up for auction.

People all over the world rushed to the mansion to buy valuables and antiques contained in it.The portrait of the son of the home made by the painter was the first on the block for sale but despite the very low price nobody wanted the painting. but there was a hidden proviso though, without the sale of the painting nothing else would be sold. After a long while the the auctioneer further lowered the price of the painting but nobody showed interest still. The timid gardener of the mansion who had been watching the auction from afar, a poor man who very much loved his late masters son then offered a few cents which was all he had and the auctioneer sold him the portrait.

The auctioneer then announced that the auction was over. Whoever gets the son gets everything ...... You work that out in your lives people
