Owan youths trek for Ize-Iyamu, Protest marginalisation of Owan people.
The youths of Owan East and Owan West local government areas of Edo state, one of the three blocs that make up Edo north, have sent three delegates on foot to Benin city from Owan land to register their displeasure over the discrimination and relegation that the APC government of Edo state has done to their people.
Leading the three man trekking delegation, which undertook the 155km trek from Owan to Benin city, Pastor Nelson Asekhame stated that he was motivated to embark on the trek because “our people have been marginalized and left underdeveloped by Adams Oshiomhole and his APC”.
Speaking to a very passionate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the Owan trekker. narrated his experience in the process of trekking to Benin.
‘Our people have been marginalized and underdeveloped by Oshiomhole. We have been denied of so may slots by the APC. The appointment of Philip Shuaibu, an Etsako man, is the height of it all.
Oshiomhole is favouring Etsako over he rest of Edo north, causing division among ourselves. There is nothing for Owan or Akoko-Edo, this is why the youth of Owan have delegated is to travel on foot to be on.
He said he was using the trek to send a message to the PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to help to restore the dignity of the Owan man.”

“Twice the governor has openly said that he has awarded the Opuje road but he did not do any thing on the road till date. He always comes to us during election but this time, we shall prove to him wrong. We are waiting for him to come and lie to us again and he will see how we will stone him.”
Nelson Asekhame who was received by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his running mate, Hon. John Yakubu praised his courage and strength of character to embark on such a tortuous journey. He prayed fervently for him and promised that his trek from Owan to Benin will not be a waste. “We know the sufferings of your people and how they have been marginalized by the Comrade governor. We will work hard to reverse this ugly trend and return Owan to the path of development”.
