Igbafe drags Obaseki, others to court
Mrs. Evelyn Igbafe
Mrs. Evelyn Igbafe, who was sacked as the executive director of the Poverty Alleviation and Women Mobilisation Agency after she publicly ridiculed Godwin Obaseki, the APC candidate as unsellable has dragged the candidate and the government to court.
Mrs. Igbafe is seeking the enforcement of her fundamental human rights against discrimination, the dignity of her human person and right to life as enshrined in Chapter 4 of the 1999 constitution.
Joined as defendants also include the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Henry Idahagbon and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike in the suit filed at a Federal High Court in Benin. “Our client had a different view from the Respondents in this matter about the primaries that was conducted in the APC governorship primaries and based on that she has been witch-hunted all this while, that is why we quickly dashed to court because we can’t take the law into our hand.” Mrs. Igbafe had claimed that Obaseki was a disaster waiting to happen describing him as “unripe mango and tomato” who was unsellable. The case has been adjourned to the 6th October, 2016 for further hearing.
