The leadership of People’s Democratic Movement, a registered political party in Nigeria, Saturday mourning at 9.30am endorsed the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and adopted him as their candidate in the forthcoming Edo 2016 election.
Speaking on behalf of the PDM, the Edo State Chairman of the party, Comrade Nosa Omorodion, said that the party was endorsing Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as their candidate because he was the best person for the serious job of governing Edo state.
Describing the APC as a party that parades fake technocrats, Comrade Omorodion stated that the genuine technocrats were available in the PDM and that they were willing to provide their services at the appropriate time.
Nosa Omorodion described the candidate of the APC, Mr Godwin Obaseki as an apprentice and not a technocrat, stating that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is an architect of development and exemplary leadership.
Responding, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu commended the leadership of the PDM for their endorsement and assured them that the PDP will accommodate them in the Campaign Committees and when the government is to be formed, they would be welcome to serve in the government.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu invited the PDM to attend the the flag off of the gubernatorial campaigns on Monday 4th of July at Baptist Convention ground at TV road, near Oliha Market, in Benin City.
Explaining why they decided to use the Baptist Convention ground and not the Ogbemudia Stadium, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu stated that the party decided to use the Baptist Convention because Adams Oshiomhole the governor of Edo State directed the management of the Ogbemudia stadium to decline their request to use the stadium.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu however noted that Oshiomhole’s opposition to their use of the stadium became a blessing in disguise as the governor inadvertently pushed them to start the campaign in the “House of God”.
