BISHOP HUSHPUPPI: Made in America

Image
By Dr. Ugoji Egbujo Before he departed for the wilderness, he had left a prayer on his Instagram page for his three million fans. After thanking God for making him wealthy, he begged the Almighty to shame those seeking to bring His beloved Hushpuppi to shame. Over 70,000 persons chorused Amen. If he had had a better premonition, he might have chosen the right background for that prayer post. A church building rather than a gleaming Rolls Royce bought with stolen money might have touched God. Unfortunately, some FBI agents rather than social media gnats were already on their way to the Versace Apartments in Dubai. The extraordinary rendition happened. Haters laughed like people laughing last. But the rest could be a Nebuchadnezzar story. Reign, wilderness, and return to absolute glory. Nigeria teems with impressionable minds. In 2041, or earlier, Bishop Hush could come back from prison with a lavish American accent to tell Lagosians God used the FBI to save his soul. He might add Paul...

10 Popular Nigerian Lies With Enormous Staying Power

Image
10 popular Nigerian lies with enormous staying power In Nigeria, once lies and historical myths take roots, they are almost always impossible to uproot. But the stubborn persistence of lies is no reason to give up on correcting them. Find below 10 oft-repeated lies with the most staying power in Nigeria. 1.  That the Nigerian government banned history in secondary schools. In the last few years, the claim that the Nigerian government “banned history” from the national curriculum has become a hackneyed, predictable refrain, and is often uttered in moments of displays of historical ignorance, especially by young people. But this refrain is both dishonest and inaccurate. History was never a mandatory subject at any point in Nigeria’s history. It was always optional before it was discontinued in 2012 because of progressively dwindling student enrollment. History and Government were offered as alternatives to each other for students. That is, you enrolled in either History or Government bu...

THE FULANI: *You cannot do things with the Fulani if you do not understand the Fulani*

Image
The Fulani were originally all Berbers. A slightly darker Arab tribe who Arabs treated with contempt. Most Berbers were forced to flee from North Africa by the full-blooded Arabs. Driven into the desert.  Arabs are not a monolithic people. They are made up of many tribes. Saudi Arabia alone has 35 tribes who do not understand each other’s language. Berbers are to be found in large numbers from Morocco to Libya. Tunisia, to be an IT powerhouse, managed to flush out almost all its own Berbers. Only 5,000 Berbers remain in Tunisia. There is a reason why Arabs do this. *The Berber-Fulah were expelled into the desert because they are vagrant, congenital bandits.* A menace to any society. About a hundred years ago, even Ibn Saud, the founder of Saudi Arabia, forced the Bedouin and other nomadic tribes in Saudi Arabia to stay in one place. He too was exasperated by their hit and run crimes.  Now, many Berber-Fulah forsook the harsh Sahara desert, drifting southwards. Shap...

DELTA GUBER POLITICS 2023- ZONING AND ETHNICITY DEFINED.

Image
In a critical appraisal of the activities leading to the 2023 Gubernatorial primaries of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Delta State, the center for Research and Democratic governance did a press release to define the context of zoning and ethnicity as they affect the looming political battle in the State. According to the release the center said. “We begin this discourse component with an explanation of the protracted subject of zoning and ethnicity and use it as point of departure to analyze the structure of political power, its class content, its implied dialectics of opposites, the nature of society and the mutual influence of the social political behaviors that devolve from it.”  According to them, “our discourse method has been organized in such a way as to bring into clear sight the logical and historical understanding of what the concepts of zoning and ethnicity entails and by extension their broader impact on the social political and economic life of Delta Sta...

LEAVE EDO STATE ALONE. YOU ARE THE DICTATOR !!!

Image
We hereby call Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to concentrate on his epileptic Presidential ambition and let Edo people decide their political destiny. Your style of politics in the south west with its attendant sign post of dictatorship is unattractive to Edo people. We are aware that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has already been given a list of non indigenes to specific portfolios in case of an APC emergence in the September election. This is your modus operandi! Thank God this will never happen as a result of the resolve of Edo people to vote and re-elect Gov. Godwin Obaseki to continue his good work. Edo people are saying it loud that EDO IS NOT LAGOS! The Midwestern region was created as far back as 1963. To dream of using Adams Oshiomole and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to reverse the political cloak of the state will be resisted by well meaning Edo people. As a former Governor, you should know better that the Governor after proclamation of the house will let the House conduct its business...

Obaseki Turns the Governorship Permutation

Nseobong Okon-Ekong writes that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has completely turned the table against his former party, the All Progressives Congress and strengthened the capacity of the Peoples Democratic Party to win the September 19 governorship election If there is one opponent that the All Progressives Congress (APC) dread in Edo State, it is the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki. The reason is not far-fetched, a little while ago, the Edo governor was a member of the APC, even if he was treated like a leper for a season by key decision makers in the political party, particularly its erstwhile National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. What began as a minor misunderstanding between the two men was mismanaged on both sides. The gulf of distrust became so wide that it was impossible to reach across the divide for a friendly handshake. Powerful individuals and interest groups had weighed in on the war between the political godfather, Oshiomhole and his estranged godson, ...

BUHARI IS A NORTHERNIST AND AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO THE EXISTENCE OF NIGERIA AS A NATION

Image
On the evacuation place back to the US, it is hard for me to believe after 35 years the reason I returned to Nigeria was a fraud, a total fraud. I returned based on the belief that Nigeria was destined for a greater future with Buhari, that corruption will be addressed head on, that nepotism will be fought and eradicated, that militancy will wane and disappear under this military general, a colossal disappointment. I returned to the clarion call for us to rebuild Nigeria to once again be the Giant of Africa. I packed up my family and all that I owned in property, financial and otherwise to bear upon my commitment to support this leader. I came home gleefully to support my nation, only to discovered that, I, like many others before me have been duped. There was no leader or leadership, it was an army of bandits without guns parading as leaders with a quest to rape the country I call my motherland. I had been sold a bridge in New York by crooks in Nigeria. Today, I can attest...
